Flashpoint Beyond #6 (of 6)

The fate of the Flashpoint Earth hangs in the balance as Thomas must make the ultimate choice! What will happen to this fractured reality and what does it mean for the DC Universe at large?

Looks like the Bruce Wayne Batman has contained the Flashpoint timeline, including his father Thomas Wayne as the Flashpoint in a Snow Globe.

However, Rip Hunter and the Time Masters don’t think its safe and that the glass will shatter as it can’t contain the Flashpoint.

Batman believes otherwise while in the globe the Flashpoint Batman is trying to stop his wife, Martha Wayne aka the Flashpoint Joker, from changing the timeline with the help of a Legion of Super-Heroes / Time Master’s time sphere.

Gilda Dent aka Flashpoint Two-Face destroys the Time Bubble so that her son Dexter may exist leaving her in the Flashpoint Joker’s crosshairs literally.

Thomas Wayne, Martha Wayne and Dexter Dent look as the world burns.

It looks like what Thomas Wayne as Flashpoint Batman has done has stabilized the Flashpoint timeline.

Looks like he wrote a letter to his son about it all.

As readers read Thomas Wayne’s letter we also see the Flashpoint’s new status quo.

Martha Wayne is imprisoned, but working to help her husband and his new Robin aka Dexter Dent or Dexter Wayne?

At the same time, the Flashpoint timeline may be stabilized, but events within are chaotic pitting its Flashpoint Batman and Flashpoint Robin against the invading forces of Flashpoint Superman’s Kryptonian people!

Then we get teases of what is to come after the finale of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Batman will be dealing with some serious problems caused by his mom’s family.

While the new infinite DC multiverse’s primer Earth 0 will be dealing with the return of “The Thirteen” into the timeline after seemingly being trapped for generations by the Time Masters:

  1. The Golden Age Mister Miracle
  2. The Golden Age Legionnaire
  3. The Golden Age Aquaman
  4. The Golden Age Red Lantern
  5. Judy Garrick
  6. John Henry Jr.
  7. Betty Ross
  8. Molly Pitcher
  9. The Harlequin’s Son
  10. Salem The Witch Girl
  11. Quiz Kid
  12. Ladybug
  13. Cherry Bomb

We also meet Cleopatra Pak who appears to be continuing the Watchmen story from Doomsday Clock with Ozymandias’s pet mutated lynx Bubastis aka Bub on the trail of the Watchman (singular).

Is that Watchman a net new character or Doctor Manhattan? Time, pun intended, will tell.

Not the end.

The Pulse:

A fun read with the series ending in a way that many would not have expected at the beginning.

The Thirteen is compelling since “everything” happened in DC history based on the creative mission statement of Dark Crisis on Infinite earths, I wonder if they fill character holes from the past or an effort to spice up the past? No Golden Age Superman, Golden Age Batman or Golden Age Wonder Woman, so, do some are all of these new character fill their spots in the founding of the Justice Society of America (JSA) in DC’s history?

Really intrigued by what’s next on the Watchmen front as well.

DC found a way to have their cake and eat it too by maintaining the “hypertime” Flashpoint timeline.

Solid art throughout the issue, from different art teams, for a story which capped a mini-series with a satisfying end with ramifications for the future including the new ongoing Justice Society of America series penned by Flashpoint Beyond co-writer Geoff Johns.
