Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #11 Spoilers and Review.
We open with a bit of a flashback from 30 minutes ago showing how the key drugged Boy Thunder to learn more about his world, how he got to this Earth and the multiverse.
Then in the “now” part of the story, which technically takes place in the past, Batman, Superman and the Teen Titans deal with Boy Thunder’s rage and revenge as he’s viciously attacked his torturer the Joker.
Batman asks Superman to handle Boy Thunder, which sounds omninous, with Robin joining them as Boy Thunder will seemingly need a friend for what’s next.
Looks like Batman and Superman agreed to sap Boy Thunder’s solar power fueled powers using Kryptonian technology.
However, Superman balks as the Fortress of Solitude is attacked.
The attackers are:
- Dr. Phoenix the Abominable Snowman
- Ferlin Nyxyl and his devil’s harp
- Zebra-Man
- Bag O’ Bones
- Acid Master
- Their leader the Key
While his allies attack Boy Thunder and Robin, the Key uses the Kryptonian technology to temporarily sap Superman of the solar energy his body has stored weakening him and lessening his super-powers.
At the same time, Robin and Boy Thunder do what they can to fend of the Key’s henchmen.
Batman finally joins the fight and help turn the tide so the good guys win.
They also convince Boy Thunder to not take matters into his own hands as he starts to wink in and out of existence.
It’s a vibrational frequency problem as he’s from another Earth and his jouney was not wholly well planned by his parents.
He enters the ship his parents sent to this Earth on and his expected to end up another random Earth.
On that Earth he is greeted by Gog of Kingdom Come infamy.
Next Up.
This story would appear to feed into the classic Kingdom Come limited series from 1996 that has been collected.
It would also appear that this Kingdom Come event happened on Earth 22 per 2014’s Multiversity Guidebook.
David Sikela becomes Magog and I hope we see him again in modern day as part of the Dawn of DC.
After all, we did a get a flashforward to end the last issue (Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #10 spoilers here) that reveal Boy Thunder grows to be the iconic Magog character.
The Pulse.
A compelling story with equal measure of action and characters moments. Liked how the Boy Thunder storyline ties into Kingdom Come. Amazing art. 8 out of 10.
