Context From Fantastic Four #1 (Volume 7).
In the opening issue of this latest FF series we have a Fantastic Two story involving the Thing Ben Grimm and his wife Alicia Masters-Grimm.
We learn that things are tense among the Fantastic Four and that Mister Fantastic Reed Richards did something to New York City.
There’s a smouldering crater where a city block used to be and Ben wonders if the people of NYC will be able forgive Reed.

It would appear that New York City was under alien armada attack.
Since the FF’s headquarters of the Baxter Building was the focal point of the attack, Reed Richards had a plan.
He transported the building elsewhere, but turned out the Baxter Building took the whole block with it leaving behind ruin.
There is a convoluted sci-fi explanation to what happend to the Baxter Building, the block, its inhabitants and the alien armada.
Looks like they will all wink back to where they left from in one year!
