The Toxic Avenger was a revolution. After decades of superheroes living in fancy cities, the world received a protector who was proud to be from New Jersey and didn’t move across the river to Manhattan. The Toxic Avenger wasn’t a clean-cut action hero. He was dripping in toxic ooze and yet wanted to clean up the world. Toxie became the reason you stayed up all night with Rhonda Shear on USA’s Up All Night. You had to track down his VHS tapes in the Cult section because the clerk at the Videorama didn’t want to upset the kids looking for the Batman tapes. The Toxic Avenger’s story couldn’t be confined to just one movie which is way Troma created three sequels. His legend grew. Now all four films are being upgraded to 4K UHD in The Toxic Avenger Collection. You can feel even more green gunk dripping from Toxie as he battles crime in Tromaville. The boxset will contain plenty of bonus features including Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman’s newest prologues. Troma Entertainment, the longest-running independent movie studio in North America, celebrates their 50th anniversary this year with the release of all four of their groundbreaking Toxic Avenger films, presented in TROMAzing Ultra High Definition.  

The Toxic Avenger Collection comes to home video on August 29th, and features a new 4K scan and restoration of each film from the original camera negatives, presented in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio in HDR with English DTS 2.0 stereo audio; new introductions for each film from the President of Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger, Lloyd Kaufman; and a collectible Toxic Avenger postcard, all compacted into one MONSTROUS, TROMArific 8-Disc TOX SET oozing with TOXIC bonus features! 

Melvin (Mark Torgl) lives the regular life of a 98-pound janitor at a gym, constantly bullied by the meathead members. The gym and Tromaville, NJ will never be the same when Melvin – after falling into toxic waste – becomes the Toxic Avenger! Toxie, armed with justice on his side, keeps the residents of Tromaville safe from the crime and evildoers that would tarnish the town he loves.

*The original negative of The Toxic Avenger Part II, while complete, was missing several short dialogue sequences in the opening third, which had been removed for pacing reasons. Although no film materials for these sequences could be located, in order to present the most complete version possible, these short segments were inserted from the highest quality digital master.
