Mystery Science Theater 3000 wants to make a 14th season of episodes to air on the Gizmoplex and they need your help. Joel Hodgson and the Bots are doing a fundraiser. The show started 35 years ago and is still going strong in the 21st century. Currently you can watch the show on the Gizmoplex. There’s also a 24/7 streaming channel that you can watch on various free services including PlutoTV if you haven’t experienced MST3K before. Here’s the information about the fundraiser if you’re eager to see fresh adventures of Joel, the Bots and all the other folks on the Satellite of Love:

Joel Hodgson, Creator of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Announces #MakeMoreMST3K Campaign for Season 14

Help Make the Next Season of the Cult Favorite Show

at MST3K.com

The story of human hosts and their robot sidekicks trapped aboard a satellite and forced to watch cheesy movies by their captors, the award-winning comedy television series Mystery Science Theater 3000 has become known as one of the most beloved cult TV shows in history. For the past 35 years, MST3K has maintained its reputation thanks largely to its devoted fan base, known as MSTies. In celebration of this momentous milestone, today Hodgson announces the campaign to create Season 14 of the long-running comedy series.

For Season 14, Hodgson has an initial goal of $4.8 million, which will fund six new feature-length episodes, six new shorts, 18 new “surgically enhanced” classic episodes that have had their visual components upgraded to 1080p from the original 480p, and further development of the Gizmoplex, the series’ first-run, in-world “online theater” and community hub . After the initial goal is met, fan interest will determine how much further the next season goes. At $6.1 million, the next season will expand to nine new episodes, nine new shorts and 27 surgically enhanced old school episodes. At $7.4 million, the season will grow to 12 new episodes, 12 new shorts, and a whopping 36 surgically enhanced classic episodes, all set to premiere in the Gizmoplex.

This campaign will be the first to launch on MST3K’s new in-house crowdfunding platform, The Showmaker, powered by Crowdfundr, which will host campaigns to fund each new season going forward.

Hodgson said, “I’m thrilled that next year, MST3K turns thirty-five. Someone recently asked me if I ever imagined the show would be around for thirty-five years when I created it, and I had to pause and say, ‘No. I didn’t.’ Our status as a long-running comedy series with robot puppets riffing on B-movies was ridiculous when it started, and now, thirty-five years later, it borders on ludicrous. That being said, in all seriousness, the enduring success of the show is a tribute to the collaboration between our many talented writers, performers, and craftspeople, and our generous, loyal audience.”

With a fresh batch of cheesy movies to riff, Hodgson will be involved in all facets of the production of the new episodes. While a cast has not yet been announced, Hodgson confirms that all major cast members from Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return, Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Gauntlet and Mystery Science Theater 3000: Season 13  will be invited to participate in the new episodes. The new season of MST3K will be produced by Gizmonic Arts, formerly known as Alternaversal.

In 2017 the show returned after an 18-year hiatus thanks to a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign, enjoying two critically acclaimed seasons on Netflix, as well as a sold-out series of national live tours. Seeking a new home for the series that would allow MSTies themselves to decide the future of the show rather than relying on a specific platform, in 2022 Hodgson launched the Gizmoplex, where the successfully crowd-funded Season 13 premiered.
