Penny will compete for the 5th starters spot in the Detroit rotation.
The Detroit Tigers and pitcher Brad Penny have reportedly agreed to a 1-year $3 million deal with another $3 million in incentives.
Penny pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals last year, going 3-4 with a 3.23 ERA through 9 starts before going down with a shoulder injury.
Penny will compete with Armando Galarraga to round out the Tigers starting rotation behind Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Rick Porcello, and Phil Coke.
