Melissa McCarthy, the one who liked bridal fight clubs and showing off her gams to an air marshal in Bridesmaids, and Ryan Lee, the little pyromaniac in Super 8, are the latest casting additions to Judd Apatow’s upcoming comedy, This Is Forty, for Universal. The comedy will have Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann reprising their roles from Apatow’s second feature, Knocked Up.
Set five years after the events of that comedy, the story will update us on their relationship. McCarthy will play the mother to Lee, who attends the same school as Pete (Rudd) and Debbie’s (Leslie Mann) kids.
So far the casting of Judd Apatow’s next feature is an interesting and odd mix, and includes Megan Fox, Albert Brooks, Lena Dunham (writer/director/star of Tiny Furniture), Chris O’Dowd (also in Bridesmaids), Charlene Yi (Funny People) and Wyatt Russell (son of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell).
Not sure where Megan Fox fits into the picture, but with McCarthy getting a lot of kudos for her gut-busting portrayal as a speaks-her-mind bridesmaid in Bridesmaids (she’s this year’s Zach Galifianakis some say), of course Apatow will want to capitalize by having her in his latest comedy.
Production has already commenced and is slated to arrive in theaters on June 1, 2012.
