According to Deadline, Steve Carell will star and produce Conviction, a heist film that has undergone a change in tone when it was first bought as a spec script two years ago by Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures.
Jonathan Herman, who was previously credited writing the 2003 short Firepussy, had originally written Conviction to have a Heat vibe, where a mastermind bank robber is forced by an FBI agent to entrap his heist protege after he pulls off a multimillion-dollar job.
Now the film will take on a tone similar to Ocean’s Eleven and 48 Hours.
Joel Silver, who produced the buddy pairings 48 Hours and Lethal Weapon, will produce the film along with Carell.
