On the last day of the 49th annual WBC convention in Las Vegas, the WBC kept their biggest news until the last day, ordering WBC Middleweight Title bout between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Sergio Martinez. Chavez’s camp, Top Rank, prefers to take on Marco Antono Rubio or Miguel Cotto next, but the organization stepped in and to give the former champion a title shot.
Also at the conference, it was determined that WBC light heavyweight champ, Bernard Hopkins would be forced into a rematch with top challenger Chad Dawson, and not given his pick of next challengers as he had wished.
