While you have to commend Warner Bros. for entrusting Spike Jonze with a $100 million to make a big-screen adaptation of Where the World Things Are, unfortunately the film only could muster $76 million in theaters. It’s just another casualty of not striking the right chord with audiences (see also The Fantastic Mr. Fox).
For those who missed it last fall, Warner Home Video has both DVD and Blu-ray/DVD Combo releases of Jonze’s film arriving on March 2nd. Extra material for the DVD release is unknown at the moment, but we do know that the Blu-ray release will include an all-new short entitled “Higglety Pigglety Pop!” featuring the voices of Meryl Streep and Forest Whitaker, a digital copy, and the standard definition DVD. When we know of any other featurettes or audio commentaries, we’ll let you know.
