Tomasz Adamek Edges Chris Arreola; Angulo Bests Julio

News

Tomasz Adamek remained undefeated as a heavyweight with a hard-fought majority decision victory over Chris Arreola. The scores were 114-114, 115-113, and 117-111.

Adamek outboxed Arreola in many of the rounds and for the most part, did a good job of moving around the ring and hitting without being hit. Adamek did his best to not brawl with the bigger Arreola but when Arreola did connect, Adamek stumbled around the ring. Arreola complained of an injured hand, something Arreola confessed happened around the 5th round after the fight. Arreola was visibly bothered by the injury in the later rounds.

In the co-feature, Alfredo Angulo scored an 11th round KO of a game Joel Julio. Even though Angulo was ahead on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage, Julio fought well and showed flashes of great boxing throughout the fight. Angulo caught Julio with an overhand right in the 11th that dropped the Colombian. Julio beat the count but the referee called a stop the bout anyway without any protest from Julio.
