Universal Announces E.T. Blu-ray Release

Disc Announcements, News

Universal Studios has issued a formal press release for its forthcoming release of Steven Spielberg’s celebrated classic, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. The film will make its long-awaited arrival to the Blu-ray format this October 2012 (official date of release is still pending).

The film, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, coincides with the studio’s 100th anniversary campaign. As such, the film has been given an all-new, digitally remastered 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer that delivers six times the resolution of DVD along with 7.1 surround sound. And as the trailer points out, the police roadblock has cops armed with guns instead of walkie-talkies.
