I can’t believe it’s been eleven years. Here I am at 33 years old, remembering a friend I lost at 22, a friend who never got to live beyond the age of 23…
But hey, we all have our stories that have been told and retold since that day, and so instead of regurgitating all I’ve said before to you (or to others, privately) — and because this is a wrestling site, after all — I decided it would be best to simply give you a special flashback clip from WWE SmackDown that originally aired on 9/13/01. It was just two days after the attacks, and it was the first mass sports or entertainment gathering that took place.
And, well, let’s just say that Manhattan native Lillian Garcia made me cheer … and cry … and did me all of us proud that night with her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner:
And whether it is eleven years or 111 years later, we will never forget those we lost on September 11th, 2001.
