Welcome to Pulse Wrestling’s LIVE WWE Summerslam 2014 results post! Starting at 7:30PM Eastern, I’ll be here recapping all of the events from Los Angeles as they happen.

The pre-show is hosted by Renee Young, and the panel includes Booker T, Alex Riley and the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

Stephanie McMahon is the “Chief Brand Officer” of WWE. Long history promo for Stephanie vs. Brie. Booker T introduces a new SHUCKY DUCKY QUACK QUACK logo that has rubber duckies wearing Booker T-style dreadlock wigs. Amazing.

Cut to announcers at ringside, and Cole calls out Booker T for stealing shucky ducky quack quack from another comedian

Pre-Show Match
Rob Van Dam vs. Cesaro

Crowd chants ECW in the start. Action moves to the floor and RVD does the thumbs to himself to a nice “Rob Van Dam” chant. Rolling thunder on the floor for a big pop. Back to the ring and Cesaro regains control with a thumb to the eye. Beats down RVD in the corner, also to a pop. Dead weight gut wrench suplex and Cesaro gloats. We are taking an apparent PPV commercial break.

Commercial Break

Cesaro has RVD in a rest hold head lock as the break ends, and the announcers continue the network $9.99 shilling. JBL specifically mentions Royal Rumble in January in addition to the “rest of the year” for free PPVs on the network. Finally RVD kicks Cesaro the floor and follows up with a moonsault from the apron onto Cesaro on the floor. RVD rolls Cesaro back in, then goes to the top rope. Cesaro pops up and hits an uppercut, and ascends the corner. RVD pushes him off, but Cesaro hits another uppercut. Same sequence. Cesaro goes for a superplex again, then a strange spot where RVD flies at Cesaro’s shoulder and sells. Announcers claim it was a mid air uppercut. Right. Cesaro with some INSULTING SLAPS, leading to some RVD kicks, and back to the top. Five-star Frog Splash for the three count and the pin.
Winner: RVD

Long Brock Lesnar/John Cena promo

That promo ends, and goes into a DIFFERENT video package to start the PPV proper.

Hulk Hogan kicks off the PPV with a promo about buying the network for $9.99. Talks about this PPV and all through Royal Rumble as included if you subscribe today. Lame.

Video package going over the whole card, where every wrestler had a wacky nickname like “Bella of the Ball” (Brie Bella) or the “Eater of Worlds” (Bray Wyatt).

WWE Intercontinental Title
The Miz (c) w/The Moneymaker vs. Dolph Ziggler

The Miz comes out and cuts a promo burying LA, and calling out Drax the Destroyer and Hercules for not having the Money Maker. They pan the crowd – the stars have come out – Mario Menounos is here! Fast action to start, Ziggler tries some quick pins and Miz takes a breather on the floor. Ziggler soon follows, beating down Miz and bringing the action back into the ring. Miz takes control and slows things down. Crowd chants “you can’t wrestle” at Miz which is a little harsh. Ziggler rebounds with a flurry of clotheslines then a Stinger Splash into the corner. Miz falls onto his back and Ziggler coves for 2. Bunch of countered moves by both guys leads into a successful superkick by Ziggler for a 2 count. Loud “Let’s Go Ziggler” chant breaks out. Miz exits the ring, grabs his belt and goes to leave. Ziggler stops him and brings it back into the ring. But in the commotion, Miz takes control and locks in the DREADED FIGURE FOUR. Long figure four sequence, Dolph is reaching for the bottom ropes. Finally he gets there, and Miz takes the full five count. Ziggler hits the Fame-Asser but Miz no-sells? “blocks” it and hits the Skull Crushing Finale. Miz covers with his arm but Ziggler kicks out! Miz complains with the ref, for what seems like forever, and Ziggler his the Zig Zag, covers Miz for the pin and the title. Good match.
Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion: Dolph Ziggler

“They’re canceling parties all over Hollywood tonight” – JBL on Miz’s loss.

Brie Bella backstage interview. She gives a serious promo about thinking about life in her jail cell. She has put her whole family through hell. She is going to take out “that she-beast” because it’s best for business.

WWE Diva’s Title
Paige vs. AJ Lee (c)

Paige makes her entrance. Video package recapping the history, dating back to the Raw after Wrestlemania. Good use of long-ish term booking. AJ Lee skips out. Face to face in the ring and AJ pulls some hair out of Paige’s head. Paige freaks out and runs to the floor. AJ follows and controls until AJ climbs on Paige’s shoulders. Paige lowers AJ face first onto the safety barricade. Back into the ring and Paige crawls seductively across AJ and then drops a hair extension onto her face. “Creepy” say the announcers. Paige goes to the top rope, AJ follows, some brawling and AJ knocks Paige to the floor. AJ then does a top rope flying clothesline onto Paige on the floor. Awesome. AJ recovers first and tosses Paige back in. AJ controls, locks in the Black Widow. Paige counters and drops down on AJ with the Ram-Paige DDT for the pin and the title.
Winner and NEW Diva’s Champion: Paige

After the match, Paige lifts up AJ and hugs her with the title, but then tosses her aside.

Sting WWE 2K15 promo.

Flag Match
Rusev w/ “The Ravishing Russian” Lana vs. “The All American American” Jack Swagger w/Zeb Coulter

Rusev enters first and Lana cuts a promo in her usual style. Next up a bunch of soldiers come out with flags and rifles and do a mini march. Swagger’s music hits and he enters with Zeb. There is a stare down that gets physical early where Swagger puts Rusev in the Ankle Lock. However the match apparently did not start yet. Lana checks on Rusev in the corner and says they will not participate because Swagger cheated. The ref ignores this(?) and rings the bell, and Swagger charges Rusev and sends him to the floor. Cole says Rusev “can’t even make it to his feet”. It’s weird to book Rusev as a face here. Swagger attacks again with a running clothesline on the floor. Huge “We The People” talk-along with Jack. Back into the ring. Swagger goes for a Swagger Bomb but Rusev gets his knees up. Brawling commences in the ring with Rusev heavily selling the ankle. “What happens if Rusev loses this match? He won’t be welcome back in Russia!” – Cole. Brawling continues and Rusev controls. Rusev goes for a superkick but Swagger turns it into an ankle lock. Rusev immediately escapes. Swagger continues on the attack. Cover for 2. Back up and Rusev connects with the superkick this time. Rusev goes for the accolade finisher but he can’t keep it on with his ankle injury. Rusev locks in an alternate version with no pressure on his bad ankle. Swagger fights out of it and locks in the Ankle Lock instead. Rusev fights for the bottom rope, Swagger pulls him back in, but Rusev rolls over and kicks Swagger in the face. Big Splash. Accolade in “full force this time” (Cole). Rusev selling pain in his face. Swagger passes out in the hold and the ref calls it for Rusev.
Winner: Rusev

After the match Zeb checks on Swagger and Rusev kicks him. Crowd boos that. Lana claps with glee.

In accordance with the rules of the flag match, the Russian anthem is played and the Russian flag is waved. A huge Russian flag comes down and Rusev has one on a stick he is waving around.

Lumberjack Match
Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins

There are 20 lumberjacks. Cesaro, Goldust, RVD, Bo Dallas, Usos, R Truth. Stardust. Titus O’Neill. Ryback. Curtis Axel. Other 2 Wyatts. Heath Slater. You get it. More megastars are here! Michelle Beadle is here! Bill Simmons who just shakes his head no. How did they get these stars to show up!?!? Seth enters first. Dean enters next to a mild LA pop. JBL calls it a “standing ovation”. They begin brawling immediately. Ambrose is in control early. Bunch of spots where one is sent to the floor and the appropriate heel/face lumberjacks do their lumberjackin’ and such. Brawling moves to the floor and into the crowd BEYOND the lumberjacks. Ambrose does some cool moves on the security barrier. Ambrose in control. Rollins is running deeper into the crowd but Ambrose is hunting him down. Corporate Kane comes down to the ring in a suit as Rollins/Ambrose brawl deeper into the crowd. Rybaxel and Bo Dallas go and grab Dean Ambrose and pull him back to the ring and Rollins goes to leave the opposite direction. The Usos, Big E and Stardust stop Seth Rollins near the entrance and bring him back to the ringside area. Ambrose is on the top rope in the corner and flies into a pile of lumberjacks and Rollins and everyone is down. They crawl into the ring and Ambrose goes for Dirty Deeds but Rollins blocks. Rollins hits a standing enziguri and Ambrose sells into the ropes and bounces back with a clothesline. Ambrose then hits a curb stomp on Rollins to a big pop. Kane then comes into the ring and breaks up the pin. Goldust comes and gets into Kane’s face, and Kane knocks out Goldust. Then it all breaks down and all the lumberjacks swarm the ring. It all clears to Harper, Rowan and Ambrose. Dean clears out the Wyatts, but then Rollins re-appears and takes out Ambrose with the Money in the Bank briefcase for the pin.
Winner: Seth Rollins

Bray Wyatt vs. Chris Jericho
Wyatt comes out alone. Jericho comes out with a neon lights jacket. Jericho controls early but Wyatt takes control with brawling that leads to the floor. Cool spot where Wyatt knees Jericho’s head into the STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL steps. Wyatt brings Jericho into the ring. Lays Jericho on his back on the bottom rope, then pulls up so Jericho’s neck hits the bottom of the second rope. Pretty sick looking move. Y2J chant as Jericho continues to sell. Headlock by Bray. Jericho fights up and gets a brief flurry of offense. Standing enziguri gets a 1 count. Jericho to the top, Bray ducks a jumping clotheslines and Bray retakes control. Jumping senton for 2. Y2J chant. Bray takes his time. Lines up in the corner and charges at Jericho who counters with a dropkick. Bray stop the momentum with a single arm takedown. That gets a 2. Bray mounts Jericho and beats him in the face. Bray to the corner and then bridges backwards into the SPIDER POSE. Bray locks in Sister Abigail but Jericho rolls him up for 2. Then goes for the Walls, Bray blocks. Jericho punches Bray in the face then locks in the Walls of Jericho. Bray fights for the bottom rope. And gets it. Bray goes up top, Jericho follows and hits a top rope huricanrana on Bray! Sick. Jericho crawls over and covers but Bray kicks out at 2. Bray does the SPIDER WALK and Jericho responds with a LOOK OF HORROR. Jericho backs into the corner with the shocked look. Bray berates Jericho and says “I cannot die because I am already dead”. Bray charges and Jericho hits the Code Breaker. Cover for 2. Brawling moves to the floor and Bray hits a thumb to the throat then a Sister Abigail onto the barricade. Bray picks up Jericho and dumps him into the ring. “Lets Go Wyatt” and “Y2J” dueling chants. Bray picks up a limp Jericho and hits another Sister Abigail in the middle of the ring for the pin.
Winner: Bray Wyatt

The lights go out after the match and the crowd erupts with cell phone lights. Bray grabs a mic and says Jericho knows what its like to follow the buzzards. Then sings “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands”.

Takis snack commercial. $9.99!

Long video package for Stephanie/Brie

“One of the Principle Owners of WWE” Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella
Steph has a black bodysuit type of ring outfit. She has that cocky McMahon swagger. Rhona Rousey is shown in the crowd. Brie enters to a nice pop. They actually lock up to start. Brie with a couple of arm drags to start. #ThisIsAwesome was trending during Ambrose/Rollins, I doubt it will for this one. Brie is a former Divas champ and Stephanie is a former Woman’s champ, Cole tells us. Stephanie takes down Brie and does a MOCKING YES POINT. She goes for a mocking slap but Brie blocks. My FEED BREAKS UP and i see some stills of this match. Brie gets into the ring to beat a count. Steph in control during my feed issues. Snapmare! “You Still Got It” chant. Steph steps on Brie’s back and pulls her arms back. This is kinda strange so far with Stephanie acting like a dominant legend of the ring. Brie bounces off the ropes and does a Lou Thesz Press and takes down Steph. Brie kicking Steph in the corner. Brie with a HAIR PULL TAKEDOWN. More kicks in the opposite corner. Another hairpulltakedown. Brie to the middle rope and screams out BRIE MOOOOODE and does a seated missile dropkick for a 2 count. Brie continues to control and HHH comes down, wearing a suit. He gets on the apron. Nikki Bella runs out. The distraction allows Steph to lock in a Pedigree, but Brie counters to a Yes lock. HHH pulls the ref out of the ring before he can call for the submission. Brie does a running dropkick from the ring to HHH on the floor and does a huge Yes chant with the crowd over a fallen HHH. Nikki goes into the ring and approaches Steph. Brie comes back in and the twins surround Steph. But then Nikki pulls Steph out the way and attacks Brie. Steph gets up and looks pleased. Nikki exits the ring and Steph grabs Brie. Hits a pedigree. HHH puts the ref back in and Steph covers Brie for the pin.
Winner: Stephanie McMahon

HHH hugs Stephanie in the ring and raises her arm. Nikki looks at the ring with no expression. Long celebration for HHH and Steph. Brie is selling like she is dead, still, in the ring.

Sin City movie commercial.

Long Totino’s commercial where some guy did a skit with the New Age Outlaws and Bill Demott (Hugh Morrus). That guy is here in the arena! So many stars here in Hollywood!

Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton
Randy Orton does his entrance. Video package. Roman Reigns does his entrance through the crowd. Brawling to start. Moves quickly to the floor. Orton takes control, and uses the STEEEEEEEEL steps to his advantage. Is this no-DQ? I guess it is? Brawling moves back into the ring. Very slow pace as Orton controls. Reigns gets a few shots in but Orton pushes him into the corner. Up to the top and both men are standing on the top rope. HUGE superplex by Orton. Awesome. Orton then locks in a PATENTED HEADLOCK and the match slows to a halt. Reigns fights up and turns it around into a headlock of his own. Orton picks him up and drops back, breaking the hold. Back and forth punches and kicks. Reigns now changes from kicks to punches. Then mixes it up with a running clothesline. Clothesline. Punch. Reigns with a running dropkick from the floor to the apron on a prone Orton. Brawling moves to the floor. Orton regains control and slams Reigns’ head into the post. Back in and Orton covers for 2. Back to the outside and Orton slams Reigns onto the English announce table. Back into the ring and both are up in the super-plex like position again. This time Roman puts Randy on his back and drops back for a top rope super Samoan drop. Reigns rolls on top of Randy for a 2 count. Superman punch! Reigns does the ROMAN ROAR and goes for the Spear, but Randy grabs Roman and turns it around into a powerslam for a 2 count. Really good and smooth. Randy sets Roman up for the draped DDT. Hits it. VINTAGE ORTON. VINTAGE RANDY ORTON. The Pose. The arrogance of this man. Pounds the mat, goes for RKO, Reigns pushes off, bounces off the ropes and goes for a spear but Randy turns it into the RKO! Covers and Romans kicks out! Randy is shocked. Roman is down but Randy is confused. Finally decides on a punt kick. Sets up for it, but Roman pulls up his head in time, then hits the spear for the pin.

Long video package for Cena/Brock, same as on pre-show.

WWE World Heavyweight Title
John Cena (c) vs. Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman

Brock comes out first. Cena’s new shirt has a big circle in the center with his face and his “you can’t see me hand” covering much of his face. It’s a bad shirt. Cole says only Flair has held more World titles. Match is starting at 10:35 which is pretty late. Cena charges into Brock to start and Lesnar pushes back and they brawl to the mat. Back to their feet and brawling continues. Lesnar hits the F5 less than a minute into the match and covers Cena for 2. Heyman grins on the outside. Lesnar stands over Cena taunting him. Crowd is hot. Lets Go Cena/Cena Sucks. Lesnar toying with Cena. Release German suplex by Brock. Stalks Cena. Another release German suplex. Cena swings desperately but Lesnar hits a knee. Lesnar is just standing over Cena and doing very little. Suplex by Lesnar. Cena pushes Lesnar to the corner and has a flurry of blows but Brock quickly pushes off and takes down Cena. Rear chinlock by Brock. Turns into a choke and takes him down. Brock doing that leg bop thing standing over Cena. Lesnar is sweating and is very red. Cena with another brief flurry but Lesnar blocks and stomps Cena to the mat, and stomps his hands. Release German suplex. This is like a squash, this is crazy. Fourth German suplex. “He’s throwing him around like a rag doll” – JBL. Fifth German, and sixth. He releases each. Announcers wonder if the ref should stop this match. Lawler pleads not to count John Cena out yet. Brock covers but Cena kicks out. The pace of this match is “uncomfortable” says Cole. 7th German. 8th. Suddenly Cena pops up and does some offense. Punches, clothesline. Lesnar grabs him for an F5 but Cena floats back and then hits an Attitude Adjustment! Cena covers but Lesnar kicks out. Lesnar does an Undertaker-like situp and laughs like a maniac. Lesnar motions for Cena to come at him, Cena charges and Lesnar takes him down and pounds away on Cena. Rolling Germans on Cena, does three in a row. Lesnar gets up and screams DIE!!! at Cena. Another series of three German suplexes. Lesnar paces and Cena randomly grabs Lesnar and locks in the STF. Lesnar is selling in the middle of the ring. Lesnar powers out of it, rolls on top of Cena and pounds away. Picks Cena up for the F5 and hits it for the pin and the title. That was a total squash and an incredible spectacle as a main event.
Winner and NEW WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Brock Lesnar

Brock gets both belts, drapes them on his shoulders and exits with a grinning Paul Heyman. Cole says that Brock delivered 16 suplexes on Cena in that match. Really great job by Cena taking that loss. Just awesome, thumbs way up for the main event and the whole show.
