On Wednesday, I had the chance to catch up with Tanisha Belnap at the So You Think You Can Dance 11 finale in Los Angeles.
I presented Tanisha with my theory about how the partner that you are placed with at the beginning of the competition is the one who is ultimately responsible for how you finish in the competition. It happened last season with Fik-Shun & Amy along with Aaron & Jasmine H, and once again this season original partners Ricky & Valerie finished in the top two positions. We also chatted about how this season has differed from others in the sense that it was more of a showcase of technical skill versus previous seasons that primarily revolved around dancers learning different styles. She told me that she wasn’t surprised by Ricky Ubeda being named as the winner and I also asked her if we can see her following in the footsteps of so many SYTYCD alumni going on to Dancing With The Stars.
