Episode 4.01: The Avengers
Airdate: November 2, 2006

The gang is adjusting to life without Marissa Cooper. Summer is attending Brown University in Rhode Island, where she has reinvented herself as a left-leaning, tree-hugging activist under the sway of Che (guest-star Chris Pratt). She also gets a phone call from Taylor who seems to be in Paris. But Taylor is really hiding out in the diner so no one will know she is not in Paris.

Seth works at a comic book store in Newport. Kirsten drops by the store to ask Seth if he has something to send Ryan in a “care package” she is preparing. Ryan has moved out of the Cohen house and is dealing with Marissa’s death in the only way he knows how. That would be by boxing in underground fights. He later misses a special dinner at the Cohens, and Seth finds him on the wrong side of the tracks and calls Summer for help.

Meanwhile, Julie Cooper will do anything even yard work to avoid dealing with Marissa’s death. At the end of the first episode, Julie Cooper convinces Ryan to look at some information on that guy Volchok so he can go find him. He finally agrees and the episode allegedly ends with Ryan boxing in a cage fight.

16-year-old twins Brad and Eric Ward (Luke’s brothers) will make their first appearances as recurring characters in the season premiere. In the season premiere, the twins and Kaitlin go to Newport Plaza to study and smoke a joint. Kaitlin is surprised to see Dr. Roberts and Summer’s step mom together at the mall. Which may be where Kaitlin’s new boots come from. Later, Kaitlin and the twins go to a party on the beach where she leaves them stranded in a car on the beach.

Sir Linksalot: The O.C.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
