Preview: Trouble in pairs?
August 3, 2007

After crashing The Great Khali’s Punjabi-style Championship Celebration last week – and spearing the World Heavyweight Champion to the canvas – Batista focuses his Animal rage toward Deuce & Domino this Friday night on SmackDown. The WWE Tag Team Champions are all about cooling off The Animal, who forcibly defeated Deuce in singles competition last week, and made eyes at his roller-skating girlfriend, Cherry. That said, the leather-jacketed lowlifes could be flirting with disaster; Batista’s ring partner is none other than the 16-time World Champion with whom he also shared two World Tag Team Titles, Ric Flair. Expect an instant tag team classic to unfold when the four Superstars clash in Phoenix this Friday.

As for the World Heavyweight Champion, where does The Great Khali stand after last week’s attack at the hands of Batista? (Any place the 7-foot-3 colossus feels like standing, in our opinion.) Amazingly, he seemed to want no part of The Animal’s challenge to meet for the title again; is Khali concerned that he’ll lose his very dominant foothold on top of SmackDown’s mountain or is he waiting to deliver a more emphatic response when Batista least expects it?

And what can United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter expect this week in Phoenix? It has been a week since Matt Hardy threw down the gauntlet, promising that he’ll defeat MVP in any and every game he can name until the United States Champion has no option but to put the coveted bling on the line against him. Well, Matt has come up with the first challenge, and he’ll meet SmackDown’s Franchise Playa in the squared circle this Friday – in a non-ring-related competition. With no way to prepare, is MVP ready to step up to the plate, or will he just keep crying foul?

For the answers to these questions and more, be sure to watch SmackDown this Friday night, 8/7 CT, only on The CW Network.
