Randy Couture vs. Kurt Angle?

News

In a recent interview with Scott Ferrell (according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter), Kurt Angle said (Dave Meltzer’s clarifications in parentheses):

  • He took down Lesnar in a backstage “match” easily in 2003 (reports on that are mixed)
  • He wants to fight Randy Couture (who said if Angle was serious, he would be up for it after Fedor)
  • He only took steroids after neck surgery, with a prescription (his surgeries were in 2003 and 2004, but failed steroid test in WWE was summer 2006)

Gotta love him!

That being said, on Bubba the Love Sponge’s radio show today, Randy Couture said he is working on setting up a submission grappling match with Angle, possibly to take place in the Pro Submission League. Also from the interview, as reported by Five Ounces of Pain, Randy talked about the Silva/Henderson match, when he wants to return to commentating, what organizations are best positioned to compete with UFC, his upcoming movies including the new Scorpion King film, the one time he bet on MMA (not one of his own fights), the idea of an independent group to rank fighters worldwide (with the promotions then obligated to try and make those fights happen), and of course, his desire for a fight with Fedor.

His wife Kim was also interviewed on the show, talking about her upcoming fight on April 5th against Jessica Cruz.
