Is there anyone hotter right now when it comes to projects than Sam Worthington right now? First it was Terminator Salvation. Next he’ll be seen in James Cameron’s assumed-to-be magnum sci-fi opus Avatar. Then it’s off to Clash of the Titans.
The in-demand Aussie star has inked a deal to star alongside the Oscar winner Charlize Theron (Monster) in Spyglass Entertainment’s thriller remake The Tourist.
Originally a French release in 2005, the spy thriller centers around an American tourist manipulated by a female Interpol agent in Europe. Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) is directing from a screenplay by Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park) and Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor)
Filming is scheduled to begin in January.
Tom Cruise had been flirting with the project since last year, before he finally moved on to the untitled James Mangold (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma) project at Fox.
