Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal Signs Deal With Strikeforce

News

Strikeforce’s light heavyweight division is desperate for competition. They may have brought in just the fighter to help them with that problem.

Sherdog.com reported that, according to a “source with knowledge of the negotiations”, ‘King Mo’ has signed a multi-fight, non-exclusive deal with Scott Coker’s organization, with December as the possible debut for Lawal with Strikeforce.

‘King Mo’ has fought at both light heavyweight and heavyweight through his five professional fights. He has won all of his bouts, with only one of them going to a decision. He fought Mark Kerr at M-1: Breakthrough in a fight that ended in 25 seconds after Lawal knocked Kerr out with a flurry of punches.

The young light heavyweight prospect enters a division that is ruled by Gegard Mousasi. With Mousasi’s quick dismantling of Renato “Babalu” Sobral for the Strikeforce light heavyweight belt, Strikeforce is going to struggle to find a legitimate No. 1 contender. With a victory in December, ‘King Mo’ may find himself a top contender in a very short time.
