News

Heavyweight fighter Bobby Lashley will return to the cage on June 16, in Los Angeles, when he takes on Ron Sparks on the televised portion of the Strikeforce: Los Angeles event.

The fight was put together with a month’s notice, something that Lashley is becoming accustomed to with his fights.

Lashley (5-0) last fought in January, at Strikeforce: Miami where he defeated Wes Sims in just over two minutes. The bout was Lashley’s debut fight with the company. Sims was the third fighter chosen to face Lashley, and the fight was put together on just eight day’s notice.

Lashley had been scheduled to fight at the last two Strikeforce cards but no opponent could be found. The former pro wrestler recently opened an American Top Team affiliate school in his home of Aurora, Colorado.

Sparks (5-0) last fought in June for Revolution Fight League: Maximum Impact. He defeated Johnathan Ivey via unanimous decision. It was the first fight for Sparks that made it out of the first round. His previous four fights were all stopped in the first round either due to TKO or KO.
