Dan Henderson Wants a Rematch With Jake Shields But Is Open To a Fight With Gegard Mousasi

News

Even with his recent loss to Jake Shields, Dan Henderson is still one of the most respected and popular fighters in the world today. At this past weekend’s Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery event, fans were continually lined up seeking Henderson’s autograph or picture.

Now word has come down that Henderson is thinking about a return to the cage, and he would love a chance to face Shields again, as long as Shields remains with Strikeforce. If he departs, Henderson would be open to facing former light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi.

“It was a possibility to fight [Mousasi] when I first came here and if I go to 205 that’s a fight that would make sense. If I stay at 185 there’s a lot of guys who could give me a good fight. I’m 100-percent happy [with Strikeforce]. Like I said, it wasn’t all about the money and it’s refreshing to deal with an organization that has my best interests in mind as well as theirs. I would like to have that chance to fight [Shields] again but if he goes [to the UFC] then that’s the way it goes.”

If Shields does indeed sign with the UFC, Henderson could stay at middleweight and fight for the title later this year. He admitted after the fight that the weight-cut was very hard on his body, so Henderson might be better off fighting as a light-heavyweight for the company.
