Guillermo Rigondeaux Cleared For August Return

Guillermo Rigondeaux has finally got his promotional mess sorted out and will be returning to the ring on August 21. According to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, Rigondeaux will be returning on the August 21 Top Rank Live card in Tijuana, Mexico against an opponent yet to be named. Rigondeaux signed a three-year deal with Top Rank. He has not fought since February.

In addition to the managerial and promotional cleanup, Guillermo Rigondeaux will be working with a new trainer. Freddie Roach is out. Ronnie Shields will be his new trainer. Shields has worked with the likes of Mike Tyson and Pernell Whitaker, as well as Tomasz Adamek and Kermit Cintron.

Rigondeaux (5-0, 4 KOs) is considered to be one of the best amateur boxers of all-time. He won Gold Medals at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games.
