NHL News: NHLPA Has 5 PM Monday Deadline To File Grievance On Kovalchuk Contract

News

Kovy signed a 17-year deal that the league quickly rejected saying it went around the CBA.

The NHLPH is expected to file a grievance which would send the dispute to an arbitrator who would have to decide whether or not to allow the contract under the CBA or make Kovalchuk a free agent again.

If the NHLPA doesn’t file the grievance, Kovalchuk would become a free agent again.

The NHLPA has been interviewing everyone involved in the signing and going over the CBA to see whether or not the deal did break any rules set forth in the CBA.
