The Steelers get Ben Roethlisberger back next week, so they bench Dixon for the season.
Dennis Dixon injured his knee in week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Dixon recently underwent surgery on the knee and the recovery time was expected to be about 6 weeks. With that time frame the Steelers placed Dixon on the Injured Reserve list.
The Steelers were orginally expected to release veteran QB Charlie Batch, but his recent play and the extent of Dixon’s injury changed their minds.
Dixon started the first two games of the season, throwing for 254 and one INT.
