Ken Hershman, Showtime Sports General Manager, announced that Andre Dirrell is out of the cable provider’s Super Six tournament during a teleconference earlier today. Dirrell has pulled out due to an undisclosed injury. Andre Ward was scheduled to face Dirrell on November 27 and a new opponent is currently being sought for the same date.
Jermain Taylor withdrew and was replaced my Allan Green. Mikkel Kessler withdrew and was replaced by Glen Johnson. Andre Dirrell becomes the third man to withdraw from the six-man tournament, all before the tournament has reached the four-man elimination stage.
Showtime still plans to continue with the tournament. Allan Green is scheduled to face Glen Johnson on 11/6. Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham are scheduled to fight on 11/27. Andre Ward is still scheduled to fight against an opponent to be named later on 11/27.
