Thursday Morning Backlash with the Sheamus and John Morrison WWE Raw Feud

Columns, Top Story

The great Jake Ziegler had so much fun filling in last week, he thought he’d go for it again… on his birthday! Happy Birthday Jake. Here’s the column.

John Morrison and Sheamus are on the verge of a feud that could do wonders for both men. If all goes well, both men could really prove their worth and cement their statuses in the company.

Sheamus is already a two-time WWE Champion, winning the title first from John Cena, and then in a four-way match with Cena, Randy Orton, and Edge. He took Triple H out of action back at “Extreme Rules,” and has been booked as one of the strongest heels on the roster for the last year or so. He has a unique look and a distinct voice that has helped him stay over, and his ring work has steadily improved.

Morrison’s push has been much more stop and start, but the fans seem ready to buy him as an upper level guy, just as they did when he had a string of great matches in the summer of 2009 against Chris Jericho, Jeff Hardy, and Rey Mysterio en route to capturing his third Intercontinental Title.

These two had a tremendous match on Raw back in September, which hopefully is a harbinger of things to come. If they feud is booked properly, Sheamus can help elevate Morrison to that elusive next level without diminishing his status at all. The only concern is Morrison holding up his end of the promos, which has been his biggest weakness. But if he can hang with Sheamus that will do wonders for his career.

WWE has done a better job making new stars than many people give them credit for, and hopefully Sheamus can help add Morrison to that list.
