News

During his big loss at UFC 124 to welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, Josh Koscheck, former NCAA All-American wrestler, suffered a broken orbital bone courtesy of St. Pierre that will require surgery. Koscheck’s trainer Bob Cook confirmed the injury to ESPN.com

According to the piece at ESPN.com, Koscheck suffered the broken orbital as a consequence of the one of the stiff jabs that St. Pierre landed onto the challenger’s face during their five round title fight. The swelling began over and around Koscheck’s eye during the first round and St. Pierre targeted the injured eye throughout the fight as a consequence.

Unable to fly due to the injury, Koscheck will have to drive to Boston to undergo surgery on Monday or Tuesday before heading home to San Jose as soon as it’s safe for him to travel.
