Marvel has been trying to bolster the importance of vampires in the Marvel Universe over the past several months, beginning with Victor Gischler’s “Death of Dracula”, and then going into the newly launched X-Men with the “Curse of the Mutants” arc, as well as the new Namor series. I won’t deny that I’ve ragged on the idea as Marvel cashing on on the popularity of the Twilight series, and the fact that vampires are hotter now than they’ve been in years, and I also don’t intend to stop saying that. But if they take an actual stance with them and can bring a compelling vampire story that A) isn’t Curse of the Mutants and B) is something befitting of the Marvel Universe, then I won’t have any problems singing praises. Gischler knows vampires, and Death of Dracula was awesome, so this could wind up being really good….I hope it is.
