Cheick Kongo Targets June Return After Back Surgery

News

French heavyweight Cheick Kongo is targeting a June return after undergoing surgery in an attempt to cure longstanding back problems. These problems caused him to cancel a fight against Roy Nelson at UFC 116 and were continuing to trouble Kongo when he faced Travis Browne at UFC 120, a fight he was only able to draw after being deducted a point. Kongo had the surgery in December and has been working on strengthening his back since. If he is able to return to the Octagon in June then he could well face Shane Carwin, another heavyweight who has been out of action due to back surgery.
