Bellator 41 Weigh-ins: Freire Given time to Make Weight, All Others on Target

News

Patricio “Pitbull” Freire, who fights tonight on the main card of Bellator 41 in the featherweight tournament semi-finals, originally weighed in last night at 146.2 pounds, 0.2 pounds heavier than the limited for the 145 pound division. He was given extra time to drop that excess weight and when he returned to the scale he officially weighed in at 145.8 pounds.

His was the only problem as the other 15 fighters all came on target. The card features two non-title bouts as current featherweight title holder Joe Warren takes on WEC and Ring of Combat vet Marcos Galvao, and bantamweight champ Zach Makovsky faces Chad Robichaux. Freire will take on Wilson Reis on his side of the bracket and in the other semi-final bout Kenny Foster will battle Daniel Straus.

The event takes place at the Cocopah Resort and Casino in Yuma, Arizona and will be broadcast nationwide on MTV2 with the televised portion of the card starting at 9am.
