UFC 130 Spike TV Preliminary Bouts Announced

News

After a lot of shuffling due to the main event being canceled, the Spike TV UFC 130 Preliminary bouts have finally been announced.

Kendall Grove (12-8 1NC) will go head to head with Tim Boetsch (12-4) in a middleweight bout. Kendall Grove is making his return to the octagon for the first time since losing to Demian Maia back in December 2010 at the TUF 12 Finale. Grove didn’t have what it took to outgrapple the Jiu-Jitsu ace and lost by way of decision. Boetsch is in the same boat, as he is only 1-1 in this UFC run with his last loss being an unimpressive loss against Phil Davis.

In what is likely to be the main event of the special, Miguel Torres (39-3) is scheduled to take on Demetrious Johnson (9-1) in a highly anticipated bantamweight fight. Miguel Torres’ last appearance in the octagon saw him dominate Antonio Banuelos with stiff jabs at UFC 126. Torres’ new style of fighting may be the key he needs to make it to the top once again, but he’ll have to go through a serious fighter in Demetrious Johnson. Johnson last fought Kid Yamamoto at UFC 126 and Johnson put on a spectacular performance, showing he has the brawn with his grappling skills and the brain with his intelligent game-plan.
