Gerald Harris to Make Promotional Debut at DREAM.17

News

Former UFC standout middleweight Gerald Harris is scheduled to make his debut with DREAM on September 24 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. He will face journeyman veteran Kazuhiro Nakamura who currently has a record of 15-10. The show, DREAM.17, has no US broadcast plans as of yet though DREAM is in negotiation with HDNet who has aired their shows in the past usually on tape delay.

Harris, 18-4, will be looking to extend a winning streak that started in May with a victory at Tachi Palace Fights 9 over Anthony Ruiz. Prior to that he had fallen on hard times, first losing to Maiquel Falcao at UFC 123 which ended his 10 fight win streak. To add insult to injury he was cut from the UFC following the fight for reason that are still not clear. From there he went on to provide James Head with a one way pass into the UFC as he dropped a fight to him in February. Then came the victory over Ruiz which opened this door for him. By signing with DREAM he knows find himself somewhat back on the big stage though it in no way compares to his time spent in the world’s largest MMA promotion.

In Nakamura he finds an opponent who has put together a decent career but who has faltered anytime he meets somebody from the upper echelon. To date he has been defeated by a most impressive list of Middle and Light Heavyweight: Shogun Rua, Lyoto Machida, Dan Henderson, Jorge Santiago, and Wanderlei Silva amongst others. He will bring a two fight win streak into the fight most recently scoring a W at DREAM.15 over Karl Amoussou.
