UFC on Fox 1 Main Event will see Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos Fight for UFC Heavyweight Title

During a UFC conference call on Friday, UFC President Dana White announced that Cain Velasquez will be defending the UFC Heavyweight title against Junior dos Santos at the first UFC on Fox card. The event will originate from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

UFC announced their deal with Fox Broadcasting in August. The deal will call for 4 cards on Fox Network, 6 on FX and the highly popular “The Ultimate Fighter” series will move to FX with live fights at the end of each show.

Update: (1:10 PM ET) The Fox feature will have only one fight on the card with a 5-round Heavyweight title fight.

Update: (1:11 PM ET) Tickets for the event will go on-sale next Friday, September 9th at Ticketmaster and the Honda Center box office.

Update: (1:12 PM ET) The remaining card for the event hasn’t found a home yet. Dana was too concerned with getting the main event sewn up. They are now focusing on where the other fights will live as well.

Update: (1:14 PM ET) The UFC are working on details regarding where fans can watch the fight in England and Ireland.

Update: (1:15 PM ET) With the San Jose card missing a main event, Dana stresses that they do have a card in place but it is still not in stone.

Update: (1:18 PM ET) The Fox execs stress that they will be launching the UFC on Fox with the splendor of Super Bowl-type experience, getting all the stars and red carpet celebs to illustrate to fans how important an event this is.

Update: (1:19 PM ET) Dana stresses that Fox is the top sports network in the world and that they are looking to working with them as they grow regarding production.

Update: (1:24 PM ET) Fox will begin promoting the card and fight starting tomorrow during college football. It will be receiving the same major coverage that other sports garner on the network.

Update: (1:30 PM ET) Fox execs won’t predict if this card will surpass the Kimbo Slice/CBS fights. Dana is confident that they will get more than that.
