Avengers Movie Easter Egg Error?

Features, News, Top Story

As many folks know, the Avengers cast and movie has been set up in many of the easter egg post-credit teases in various Marvel hero films.

In light of the new mega popular and profitable Avengers movie, one may forget the easter egg at the end of the Thor movie. That scene has Loki seemingly possessing Dr. Erik Selvig in the SHIELD bunker as Nick Fury shows him the tesseract (cosmic cube). You’ll note in the scene that Loki says “Well, I guess that’s worth a look” in response to seeing the cube. Movie goers see this as Loki is reflected on glass, but he is not seemingly physically present between Dr. Selvig and Nick Fury. This phrase is immediately repeated by Dr. Selvig to Fury. It is clearly showing that Loki is influencing the good doctor and now is intrigued by the tesseract.

So, why then at the beginning of the Avengers movie is Loki no where to be found in the bunker? Did Loki stop possessing Dr. Selvig at some point? Certainly there are many explanations for what could have happened between the Thor movie easter egg credits and the Avengers opening where Loki is pulled back to Earth by the tesseract. However, you’d figure that would have made it into the movie.

Perhaps this will be covered in the announced extra footage to be in the Avengers blu-ray or perhaps this is explained in the Avengers novelization or perhaps this was an erroneous oversight.
