WWE “Fines” Daniel Bryan & Randy Orton

News, Top Story

During last week’s Raw main event, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan faced off in a No DQ match. They attacked each other with everything from kendo sticks to tables but it was a steel chair that really stood out.

At one point early in the match, Bryan went for a suicide dive through the ropes only to be met with a steel chair to the face from Orton. WWE has publicly “banned” any chair shots to the head and it seemed strange that at least one took place on Raw. On Friday, WWE.com released the following statement:

“Following their intense Street Fight on Monday Night Raw, WWE fined both Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan an undisclosed amount for chair strikes to the head during their match.

“We don’t allow chair shots to the head in WWE,” WWE COO Triple H informed WWE.com. “We understand it was in the heat of the moment but we take this very seriously and as a result, [Orton and Bryan] were fined.”

Though not disclosed, the heft of the fine was evident in Orton’s reaction.

“Trust me, it was enough,” Orton said.”

It should be noted that this article did not appear on WWE’s corporate website but specifically WWE.com where it sat side-by-side with storyline driven “news”.
