Sara McMann out of UFC Fight Night 27 bout against Sarah Kaufman

News

A women’s bout with title shot implications scheduled for this month’s UFC Fight Night 27 event has been cancelled.

Sara McMann (7-0, 1-0 UFC) has pulled out of the event, where she was scheduled to meet Sarah Kaufman (16-2, 0-0 UFC). No official reason was given for McMann’s departure from the fight, only that it was for undisclosed reasons, and not due to an injury.

MMAJunkie.com first reported the news. A replacement is being sought to meet Kaufman on the Aug. 28 card.

McMann was looking for her second win since joining the UFC. She defeated Sheila Gaff by first-round TKO in her debut at UFC 159 in April. The former Olympic silver medalist has won all seven of her fights as a professional.

Kaufman is set to make her UFC debut at the event. She is the former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion, and she unsuccessfully tried to regain the title when he fought Ronda Rousey in August 2012. Kaufman returned with a decision win over Leslie Smith at Invicta 5 in her last bout.

UFC Fight Night 27 takes place from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event’s main card airs on FOX Sports 1. Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann meet in a rematch in the night’s five-round main event.
