Despite the fact that they were both winners on Saturday’s UFC on FOX 15 card, Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza believes he deserves the next shot at the middleweight title… even ahead of fellow victor Chris Weidman.
Souza racked up his eighth straight win on Saturday night with a first-round submission victory over Chris Camozzi. The result was ‘Jacare’s’ seventh finish in period.
“Yes, I believe 100-percent it’s my time,” Souza said at the post-fight press conference. “I am the number one contender.”
Souza also believes that he actually should have beaten Luke Rockhold when the pair met for the Strikeforce title in 2011 (where Rockhold won by decision).
“I fought Luke a long time ago, everybody knows he didn’t beat me. The judges (scored) the fight for him. I come to fight, I’m ready for the title. It is my fifth fight in the UFC. I can finish anybody in the division. It’s my time.”
