On January 22 2016, I had the chance to interview So You Think You Can Dance‘s Hailee Payne and Virgil Gadson just before their live tour stop at the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts in Toronto, Ontario.
In our interview, we discussed what life on the tour has been like. I immediately started the interview off by asking them why they fell just shy of winning. The pair admitted that they had both auditioned for the show before (prior to making it onto Season 12) and I asked them why their season all exhibited this resilient unwillingness to give up. I asked Virgil why the So You Think You Can Dance 12 girls seemed to really ingratiate themselves with the fans this season (considering three out of the final four were females) and how he seemed to buck the trend and flourish in spite of this. I asked Hailee if she looked at Gaby and Jaja as her biggest competition throughout the season. I asked Virgil about his theatre background and how important that was in propelling him to the end. Finally, I asked the pair to continue the So You Think You Can Dance tradition of the finalists teaching me a dance move.
