How do you follow-up a character like Jack Bauer. The answer is simple. You become the President of the United States.
Designated Survivor is the story of Tom Kirkman, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development at the White House. On the night of the State of the Union, an explosion claims the lives of the President and all members of the Cabinet except for Kirkman who had been named as the ‘designated survivor.’ He immediately is sworn in as the President, unaware that the attack is just the first of many.
Sutherland thrives in the title role and offers a much more layered character than the Jack Bauer character that he became famous for on 24.
At CTV’s 2016 upfront presentation, I had the opportunity to catch up with Sutherland who gave me a sneak peek for what fans can expect from Designated Survivor. He also told me that he loved my f****** suit.
