  • Invaders #1 – I’ve been a fan of WWII heroes since I was a kid, and have a full run of Marvel’s original Invaders series. That said, I wouldn’t feel the need to return to these characters now, were it not for the fact that Chip Zdarsky is writing the series. He and artist Carlos Magno did a fine job on the recent Namor one-shot, and I’m hoping they can turn that character around after this recent nonsense that has him returning to his villainous, tyrannical roots.
  • I’m also excited to see Deadly Class return this week, and Days of Hate end.
  • Other titles I’m looking forward to are Lodger, Gideon Falls, The Wicked + The Divine, Black Panther, Uncanny X-Men, Black Badge, and The Warning.

  • Invaders #1 – I really liked James Robinson’s run on Invaders. It just seems like a book that readers have no interest in, but I am constantly hoping Marvel finally hits on a formula that will bring an audience in for Invaders.
  • Marvel Comics Presents #1 – I love anthology books! I get introduced to a lot of bizarre characters and unknown creators in books like Marvel Comics Presents. The first issue is Wolverine, Captain America and Namor. But the second issue does feature a Gorilla Man story, so hopefully we will get a nice blend of well-known and more obscure characters.
  • Conan the Barbarian #2 – Hadn’t read a Conan comic in like 20 years, but Marvel did a great job with the return of Conan last month. Jason Aaron is a great fit for this book, and I loved the story taking place in two different periods in Conan’s life. Aaron used that technique well in Thor, and it seems like it will be just as good a fit here.
  • Mae #10 – I actually had no idea Mae had gotten a second series until about a month ago. Dark Horse had produced the first 6 issues, and then it just kind of ended. I had lost track of the series, assuming it was just a dead IP. Then I saw a company named Road had released issue 9, so I went back and scooped up the earlier Roar issues. Mae is the story of a girl who finds out her missing sister has become a hero on fantasy world. It’s a real fun character driven story.
