Mike Mayhew.

It’s Monday and we have Mike Mayhew aka @mikemayhewstudio joining our merry, mighty money raising movement to help comic stores in need via @thinkingbinc! Mike not only has the perfect comic book alliteration in his name, he’s got perhaps the cleanest style when it comes to illustration. Four color bright, otherworldly saturated and perfectly rendered—he marries modern commercial art sensibilities with a nouveau retro pulp magazine vibe making for imagery that feels alive yet just beyond our reach. Bringing that kind of slick hyperrealism to superheroes makes the impossible feel real and still retains the exaggeration inherent to superhero gestures and compositions. He’s generously agreed to do a painting for the cause which you the fans will decide what he creates! So give him a follow and check out his long list of beautiful imagery and sound off below what you would love to see Mike tackle! #comicbookunitedfund

Today is a holiday but that doesn’t mean we’re taking a break. Instead I have the pleasure of announcing @patrickgleasonstudio will be creating and donating a piece of original art that you, the fans, will get to choose! Pat is a beast who I feel is one of the most versatile artists in the business. He can project the needed power and drama of superheroes with Kirbyesque power and energy but he also excels at bringing out the fun, whimsy and vulnerability of younger characters. Creating in that space between the dark and the light and with the deftness of different styles makes Pat one of most interesting artists to watch (and follow!). There’s a love for the medium in everything he draws, and I love the quieter, more offbeat moments he brings to life! Looking forward to what he brings to life for you guys. Comment below with your suggestions, and once he’s done with his piece, I’ll pop it up on eBay to benefit struggling comic shops in need via @thinkingbinc! #comicbookunitedfund

Good morning! Today I’m thrilled to welcome @domostanton to our fundraising efforts! Domo is a wonderfully talented young artist who I had the pleasure of meeting years ago when DC ran a new talent program which identified up and coming artists from around the world and brought them into our offices in Burbank for a over a week to learn from our veteran instructors @kjansonnyc and @andykubertart. I remember being struck with the fluidity of his line, the way he chopped up a page with his angles and the freshness of his style! He’s already donated two pieces of art—one of the She-Hulk and the other of Poison Ivy which I’ll post up later today. Proceeds of the auction will benefit struggling comic shops in need via nonprofit @thinkingbinc! Domo also live-streams his work and shares his fun, infectious, creative process with fans from around the world on twitch so give him a follow and check out his streams!
