Marvel Comics and Children Of The Atom #3 Spoilers and Review follows.

More Fantastic Four…

…Than X-Men As…

…Secret Origin Revealed!

We get moments from the present and past in this issue, but…

…it’s the past moments that…

…start unpeeling the onion to begin to reveal the secret origin of the kids…

…who will become the Children of the Atom.

The kids somehow are on board a spaceship as we start explore the past…

…that hits some issues requiring the kids the abandon ship.

They get into pods…

…that jettison them back to Earth…

…while they celebrate surviving; no reveal yet about how they got their powers, but we do see Gimmick painfully getting hers in a flashforward to the end the book.

The Pulse:

While we knew we needed to get a reveal of how the Children of the Atom came to be, this issue wasn’t almost all talking heads and no real in-costume action (#DecompressedStoryTelling). Also, the past and present, particularly the present aka “now”, was as an odd presentation since isn’t the present the kids in costumes and super-powered from the last few issues? The end with presumably Gimmick getting her powers seems odd unless this is her powers evolving? Anyhow, despite change in artist, the art was solid this issue. 6 out of 10.
