As did the debut issue (full spoilers here).
Ordinary Gods #2 opens with a creators credits page.
We then get a recap of how the debut issue ended and left Christopher Becker to be healing as his family lay dead at the hands of his sister.
Chris wants to escape and in doing so starts having visions of a time in Russia during WWII.
Turns out his on some kind of island base.
He’ll listen to his benefactors, for now, to find out what is going on.
Well, it seems that there are a race of immortals across the globe…
…that are needed to be reawakened or somesuch.
In addition, each immortal has a “steward” in the body of a loved one closest to them to trigger their reincarnation so they forget their past live(s) or somesuch.
To prove it to Chris, they take him to meet the steward Black Light.
That tells Christopher that he sister might be able to be safely separated from her steward as…
…the book ends with visions from the past and Christopher Becker seemingly the host for an immortal that was at one time the sadistic Josef Stalin?!
The Pulse:
A complex yet intriguing premise that we can now build on from here in terms of the modern day adventures. Strong story with just ok art. 7 out of 10.
