The world John Proudstar has returned to is completely different from the one he once knew. John Proudstar aka Thunderbird debuted and nobly died in May 1975’s Giant-Size X-Men #1.

Forty-seven (47) years later he’s back having been resurrected through the X-Men’s resurrection protocols operationalized by the Five.

His first mission is not for the X-Men, but for himself visiting the town he grew up in.

He discovers that many of the elders were arrested as they did not identify and surrender mutants as some local governmental body sold the indigenous peoples with the X-Gene.

John Proudstar dons his new costume to take on the Heritage Initiative who are coming to back up the corrupt police and collect the indigenous mutants.

This racist group has the backing of Orchis and over the meat of the issue, including some self discovery, Thunderbird defeats them and liberates his people.

He even sets up a Krakoan gate to allow his brother James Proudstar aka Warpath to come home for a visit too.

A new family pic with grandma is taken to commemorate this family reunion.

The book ends with a hopeful outlook for Thunderbird and a promise he will return.

We then learn he’s be back in X-Men Red #3.

That book comes out in June 2022.

Its solicitation follows.

So does ROBERTO DA COSTA. But only one of them can win…and Tarn’s going to make at least one mutant pay the price for it!

If you’re wondering where I got my banner pic, it’s the Ed McGuinness cover for Chaos War: X-Men #2 from 2010.

Curious as to both Thunderbird’s and Warpath’s journeys through Destiny of X.
