Tom Arnold, the co-host of Fox Sports Network’s “The Best Damn Sports Show Period,” is looking to return to ABC with a comedy series.
The sitcom will be loosely based on Arnold’s experience as stepfather to Roseanne’s three children during their four-year marriage. In the new project, Arnold will star as a single man who lives next door to a mother with three kids and winds up taking care of the children.
ABC has ordered a script from writer-producers Josh Sternin and Jeff Ventimilia of Fox’s “That ’70s Show.”
In addition to a network series, Arnold has been pitching recently a syndicated talk show for the 2005-06 season.
Arnold’s first series gig on ABC was his supporting role on “Roseanne.” On the big screen, he was most recently seen in “Soul Plane,” and he plays himself in the Bernie Mac comedy “Mr. 3000,” which opens Friday.
