Straight from this past weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con are two new posters and a trailer for Let Me In, the upcoming adaptation of Swedish writer John Ajvide Lindqvist’s vampire novel.
It’s hard to decide whether or not to call Let Me In a remake of Let the Right One In, the 2008 Sweedish adaptation of the novel. On one hand, the American film’s writer/director Matt Reeves has gone on the record as saying his film will be more faithful to the book than to the Sweedish movie. On the other hand, news that some of the more shocking aspects of the book (and even the movie) have been cut out of Reeves’ film makes one suspicious.
Either way, I love the posters for the film — they do an awesome job establishing the tone of the movie while evoking classic images that haven’t been done to death on American movie posters.
I’m not completely sold on the trailer yet, though. It seems like it will be similar enough in style and tone to Let the Right One In while appealing to the tastes of American audiences. There were just no images that knocked my socks off — but maybe that’s because I’ve already seen the Sweedish adaptation. I’d love to hear the opinions of people who haven’t seen (or even heard) of Let the Right One In. What do you think of this new trailer:
