My hat is off to Sylvester Stallone. People may think that he doesn’t have it as an action star, but I give him credit for his determination to go all out in his showdown with Stone Cold Steve Austin during the third act climax of The Expendables. The fight, and the stunt that went wrong, is covered in a new documentary about the production called Inferno: The Making of The Expendables. I suspect that some of the information will be culled from many of behind-the-scenes vignettes that had popped up over the Net leading up to the film’s release. Though, it may be all original footage.
A few days ago, Stallone tweeted about the documentary’s eventual release as well as a director’s cut of The Expendables:
Director’ss Cut will be in about six months and Inferno, which is the documentary, will be out soon – its hard core – everybodys on it.
He has also done a commentary track for the DVD and Blu-ray.
“Turned out great, think you’ll like it.”
And as far as Expendables sequel talk goes, it seems that Sly is soliciting any and all opinions. Hopefully, it won’t blow up in a Snakes on a Plane kind of way where every film junkie weighs in with their two cents.
Sly adds, “I am thinking what would be the most dangerous places in the world to set the sequel?… Had dinner with Bruce Willis… I want him in Expendables II as a super villain. What do you think?”
Bruce Willis as a villain, eh? Well, we all know what he did to Jack Black’s arm in The Jackal. As to where the sequel should be set – anybody got any ideas?
