Things seem to be progressing smoothly for Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder when it comes to their Superman project where the story is still being kept under wraps. Back at the end of January we told you that Henry Cavill was cast in the role of the Man of Steel. Now the latest casting rumor surrounds Kevin Costner.
Deadline Hollywood has heard that the Oscar winner is being considered for a key role in the new Superman. The role remains a mystery for now, but early speculation has Costner in the role of Jonathan Kent, Superman’s surrogate father on Earth.
The Superman film is being produced by Chris Nolan, Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. The new Superman is targeting a December 2012 release.
