“It’s a trap! It’s a booby trap!” I still don’t know what to make of Universal’s Your Highness, which releases in a few weeks. The combination of Danny McBride, James Franco and Natalie Portman looks good, but it’s the comedy I’m worried about. Paul was hit or miss (see our review), so if the comedy doesn’t work here, McBride will be largely to blame, along with co-writer Ben Best. Though this is the first movie they’ve written together since The Foot Fist Way, an awkward comedy that pulled no punches (or kicks) to become an underground sensation.
MSN has debuted a new red band trailer that contains a lot of the jokes from the first one but with a few more funny quips. Watch it and see if the combination of fantasy and potty humor is something that’s in your wheelhouse.
Your Highness is a hilarious new fantasy comedy from David Gordon Green about an arrogant, lazy prince (Danny McBride) and his more heroic brother (James Franco) who must complete a quest in order to save their father’s kingdom.
Filmmaker David Gordon Green, began his career with George Washington followed by All the Real Girls and Snow Angels, but most probably first noticed him with Pineapple Express. The screenplay was written by McBride and Ben Best. Together they wrote The Foot Fist Way and launched Eastbound and Down on HBO. Your Highness opens in theaters on April 8th.
